Existing CARE registrants can expect to receive an e-mail or a phone call from an Enhanced 911 Board staff member to confirm the information we have is still accurate.

Would You Need Help in a Disaster?

CARE (Citizens Assistance Registry for Emergencies)

Emergencies can take many forms.  Ice storms, floods, fires, major traffic accidents, and similar events can cause power outages, isolate individuals, or prompt the need for evacuation. If prolonged, these events may become life threatening for people with certain disabilities or other circumstances.

The CARE program was created to help emergency responders identify Vermonters who might need additional assistance in case of a wide-scale event.   If you, or someone you know, might need additional assistance in such an emergency, please complete the online registration below.

Please note:

  • Your registration with CARE does not guarantee your safety.

  • It is the registrant’s responsibility to call 911 if they have an emergency and need medical, police, or fire response.

  • CARE is designed to be used by emergency responders to assist registrants in a disaster.  It is up to the emergency responders to decide when and how to use it.

  • By completing this registration, you understand that all groups involved in helping to keep you safe in an emergency may have access to your registration information.

  • If you move, or your circumstances change, please log in and make any necessary updates to your registration information.

  • You will need to log in to your account and confirm your registration is still accurate at least every 12 months. The Enhanced 911 Board will reach out with a reminder message. Failure to update your record or confirm with the Enhanced 911 Board will cause your information to be removed from the registry.
